Develop rhythmic fluency

This is a two-part course. Part 1 is totally free. Part 2 is just $10.

If one definition of music is sound over time, then a musician's relationship to time is fully half the work. That's probably why the ideas and concepts in this course come up so often in my teaching — and why I wanted to make them available to all my students. These are the exercises I feel every pianist should know to develop a more fluent relationship with rhythm.

Part 1 focuses on understanding subdivisions and groove by being able to visualize and sing all the parts of a beat. It's about 30 minutes long and is free. Just click "free preview" to check it out. Part 2 focuses on rhythmic phrasing, and in particular some exercises that helped my improvising skills. It lasts about 45 minutes and costs $10.

So whenever you're ready, click the button below to check out Part 1 and start learning, and then keep going into Part 2 whenever you're ready.
